This is the Yamaha R5350LC project. What started out as a dirt cheap bucket of bolts ended up as you see here. The bike came with an extra RD engine so we threw it in and it fired up. I initially thought of just parting the thing out but since it ran, why not build something out of it. The bike sat for over 10 years disassembled and we brought it back to life in a 1/2 day! In the following pages, you will be able to explore how this bike got built and other interesting facts.

After I got the parts, I threw it all together and walla. A complete bike! My buddy Peter came by, slapped on some new points and took some hero runs down the street. Yes folks it ran. That was when I did not have the RD350 front end on it. The original R5 drum was shot so we only had the rear brake! That was a little too exciting for my taste. After that, it sat for awhile and I did not think much of it. The thing about it was that it was all there and pretty much complete. There was not much wrong with the bike except the usual things when a bike sits for a long period of time.
This is how the bike looks like as of today. It is basically a daily rider. I take this thing all over the place, abuse the hell out of it, you name it. It can take the freeway no problem and also have fun in the canyons. The only thing is that it is old so there are some things that need improvements. This R5 is my first transplant for a motorcycle so it was a learning experience to say the least. At least it was lots of fun. Enjoy!
